Sierra Linda Academics
At Sierra Linda, we know that academics provide the core of our students’ learning experience. Our academic courses provide a solid foundation that students can build upon. The courses come from the following areas of learning:
English
Our goals are to increase students’ proficiency in reading and writing while fostering a love of language.
PE and Wellness
We encourage students to learn how to manage aspects of their mental, social, and physical lives.
Performing/Visual Arts
Art education courses consist of rigorous content and can stimulate a child’s intellectual development. Our course include art, band, chorus, dance, and piano.
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
We prepare students for a wide range of careers. These careers require varying levels of education, from high school and post-secondary certificates to two and four-year college degrees.
World Language
We believe that learning a second language is vital in today’s society. We currently offer courses to learn Spanish.
Math
The mathematics staff at Sierra Linda has as their highest priority to prepare the students for a society that needs math skills.
Social Studies
We offer courses in world history, US history, government, and economics.
English Language Development
We aim to help students develop English language skills using Structured English Immersion (SEI) methodologies.
Advanced Placement (AP) Program
The AP Program enables willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school.
Library and Media Center
We strive to help students develop effective skills for utilizing ideas and information, and we recognize the importance of leisure reading.
